I Polish Cultural Festival in Edinburgh 2009
Part of Polish Cultural Festival in Edinburgh An interactive exhibition “It’s my Place” of new works by Polish artists in the “Out of the Blue” gallery in Edinburgh. That exhibition was a part of Polish Cultural Festival in Edinburgh in April 2009 (which Goshka Bialek initiated and co-organised with Wojtek Zychowicz, technical help – Karol Gruszczynski)
Following on from the success of last year’s “It’s My Place” community project at Craigmillar Art Centre, an exhibition of new work by polish artists living in Scotland and students of the Glasgow Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama was exhibited. The team hoped the show helped spark a fresh collaboration with the community. The audience was invited to take part in a taster of last year’s workshops by making a print of their hands in glass!
The “It’s my Place” project brought the local community together with talented and energetic Polish artists living in Scotland to explore a variety of art techniques and produce collective work under the theme of place. The group was comprised of professional artists with community outreach experience and emerging artists with this a specific focus.
The multi-media exhibition involved sculptors, painters, new-media artists, musicians and performers. The exhibition was opened by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh- Aleksander Dietkow, a local MP, Mark Lazarowicz, Directors of Polish Cultural Festival: Lidia Krzynowek and Joanna Zawadzka. The opening was attended by about 150 people.
